2024 Scholarship Program for the Descendants of Independence Patriots

In celebration of the 79th anniversary of Korean Independence Day, the Lotte Scholarship Foundation (Chairman, Chang Hae-sun) and the Heritage of Korean Independence (Chairman, Lee Jong-chan) are implementing the "2024 Scholarship Program for the Descendants of Independence Patriots" to honor the love for the country and its people shown by the Independence Patriots.

■ Application Target

50 descendants of the Independence Patriots

■ Application Period

From Wednesday, March 6, 2024, to 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2024.

※ The list of scholarship winners will be announced on HKI website in May.

■ Qualifications for Applicants

Descendants of Independence Patriots who are currently undergraduate or graduate students at domestic or foreign academic institutions.

※ Regardless of nationality and residence, all descendants of the Independence Patriots are eligible to apply.

Applicants must be able to verify their descent from Independence Patriots.

※ A verification document issued by the Korean government to confirm the applicant's status as a surviving family member of an Independence Patriot is required.

※ If the applicant lacks an official verification document, it can be substituted with evidence related to the independence movement (e.g., news articles, books).

Descendants of the Independence Patriots who have not received any support from the Korean government, including great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Selection of applicants will prioritize those who come from lower-income families.

Students enrolled for the first and second semesters of 2024, including new students, are eligible.

■ Details of Support

Scholarship amount: A total of 6 million KRW per person, divided into installments for the first and second semesters.

Payment in May and October, 2024.

※ Payment after checking the certificate of enrollment every semester.

■ Scholarship Student Obligations

Mandatory attendance at the scholarship certificate award ceremony

(scheduled for 5/24)

※ Students residing overseas must connect online
